Reviews on random topics to not forget some details on my impressions over time.

These opinions can range from random shower thoughts to just scribbled notes about things I experienced.

They are all personal thoughts, and can be skewed due to many reasons, including delays in writing them down.

  • Horizon Forbidden West

Building and improving on the gameplay loop of the first game, it continues to showcase an interesting and fun main character through an enormous map to be explored. Forbidden West likely has enough content to make some completionists easily play for a 100+ hours.

  • Horizon Zero Dawn

Captivating gameplay loop, interesting (but ultimately disappointing) story, audacious main character. Zero Dawn was fun enough to keep me entertained, but was uninspiring in some areas.

  • Sea of Stars

Beautiful pixel art, even more beautiful cinematics. Sea of Stars is a fun and captivating JRPG that does (almost) everything very, very well.

  • Ori and the Blind Forest

Visually beautiful, with plenty of passive skills and a big map, Ori and the Blind Forest is quite fun and its story might melt some hearts, while providing a quite easy but fun gameplay loop.

  • Cocoon

Quite charming visually, and with a slow pace that can be very relaxing, Cocoon starts off simple but increases in complexity at the end. It provides almost no hard challenges, but is interesting enough to keep you hooked until the more complex puzzles appear.

  • Bloodstained - Ritual of the Night

Underwhelming, but okay game, with a lot of map to explore and different skills to spice up gameplay. Bloodstained is not the spiritual successor to Symphony of the Night I hoped it to be, but I can see it working for a lot of people.

  • It Takes Two (2021)

An extremely fun game, filled with emotions and chaotic unpredictable scenarios. It Takes Two caught me completely by surprise with the amount of unexpected turn of events and different areas / mechanics it threw me and my wife into.

  • Children of Morta (2019)

Amazing animations, mixed pixel-art style, simple gameplay loop, slightly repetitive. Children of Morta has an interesting story that even got my wife’s attention and curiosity, bringing her for some fun in a couch co-op style.

  • Blasphemous (2019)

Beautiful pixel-art, fun metroidvania. Simple mechanics, very confusing lore. A fun time killer.

  • Kena - Bridge of Spirits (2021)

Fun, beautiful, touching. Simple, but intriguing. Kena has a welcoming vibe, although it is not without challenges.

  • Shadow of the Colossus (2018)

Simple mechanics, straightforward goals, diverse bosses, beautiful landscapes. Very annoying camera control, repetitive strategies, uninspiring ending.

  • Returnal (2021)

Intriguing story, challenging bosses, fast-paced and thrilling gameplay, but runs are too long and can feel unfair with bad-luck or high burst damage from enemies.

  • God of War (2018)

Fun, touching, well-made, and with a wide cast of interesting support characters. However, challenging only if you want to look for it.
